Overview

The Olive Restaurant, nestled at 346 Stiles Pl in Prince Rupert, BC, offers a welcoming spot for those seeking hearty meals and a warm atmosphere. Although it's worth noting that The Olive has recently closed and the premises now operate as The Pavillion under the same ownership, the legacy of The Olive remains memorable for locals and visitors alike.

During its operation, The Olive distinguished itself with a menu that embraces comfort and variety, from succulent steaks to seafood and flavorful curries. Highlights such as the Fruit Waffle made a sweet impression for breakfast lovers, while the Rib Eye Steak stood out among the steak offerings—surf and turf, New York steak, and pepper steak rounded out the options, each promising a solid, well-prepared experience.

Seafood enthusiasts found satisfaction in generous portions of halibut, ling cod, and wild sockeye salmon, with classic fish and chips making a frequent appearance in reviews. The curries—ranging from Lamb Curry to Butter Chicken and Paneer Mutter Masala—added vibrant flavors and catered well to diverse palates, serving both meat lovers and vegetarians.

Patrons consistently praised the quality of the food and portions, noting that the balance of quantity and taste made each dish a worthwhile choice. Eric Ingvallsen shared his positive experience with the Steak Burger and Fish and Chips, emphasizing the burgers’ deliciousness and the fresh, crisp fries. Other diners like Cook Lee highlighted the restaurant’s well-executed chicken dishes, complemented by classic sides like taters with gravy and coleslaw, underscoring a menu rooted in satisfying, home-style cooking.

The Olive’s atmosphere was described as unpretentious yet inviting, not focused on upscale decor but rather on solid service and enjoyable meals. According to reviews, the service quality was commendable, with attentive staff contributing to the laid-back, friendly environment—a place where good food and a relaxed vibe took center stage. This made The Olive especially appealing to individuals and groups looking for dependable dining without the fuss, suitable for families, working professionals, and casual diners alike.

Though the restaurant no longer operates under the name The Olive, its mark on Prince Rupert’s dining scene remains notable for its approachable menu diversity, focus on flavor, and community atmosphere. Those seeking the notable steaks, seafood classics, or comfort curries might now find a different setting in The Pavillion but can recall The Olive as a strong chapter in local culinary offerings.

For those in the area, The Olive was more than just a meal—it was a place that combined solid flavors with friendly service and a casual space, capturing an essence of comfort food done right amidst the charm of Prince Rupert.

We ordered the Steak Burger and Fish and Chips. Burger was delicious and great fries. Fish was great as well (halibut) but the two strips were quite small for the price. Will definitely be eating there again.

Menu had a good variety of dishes. Our party ordered 4 different dishes and all were well presented and quite tasty. Portions were good size and prices were reasonable. Not fancy decor or trendy area but we went for the food and were quite happy with what we found.
